The Wagner Tuning Competition Intercooler Kit is a direct upgrade for the Audi RS6 C6 4F (426kW/580PS, 2008-2010), designed to keep the twin-turbo 5.0 V10 running cooler and more consistently under hard use. By replacing the restrictive factory intercoolers with a much larger, more efficient core design, the kit reduces intake air temperatures and helps maintain power during sustained driving, track sessions, or in warmer climates.

Why upgrade the intercooler?

The original RS6 intercoolers can struggle to keep up once the engine is worked hard, leading to heat soak (where the cooler itself becomes saturated with heat and can no longer cool effectively). When that happens, intake temperatures rise, the ECU pulls timing, and power drops. A larger, more efficient core like this one keeps the charge air cooler for longer, so the engine can deliver its full output more consistently.

Engineering and design

Wagner Tuning use a competition-grade tube fin core paired with their newly developed HD-Fin internal insert, which improves heat transfer from the charge air to the cooler’s surface. The cast aluminium end tanks are developed in CAD and refined using CFD (computer airflow simulation), giving smooth internal flow and minimal back pressure – meaning the turbos do not have to work harder to push air through.

The core is finished with an anti-corrosion coating that has good thermal conductivity, so it protects the cooler from road salt, moisture and debris without compromising its ability to shed heat.

The stepped core measures 283mm x 225mm x 90mm plus 283mm x 193mm x 55mm, fitting within the available space while delivering a significant 79% increase in internal volume over the factory unit.
